Architecture Versus Engineering<\/h2>\n

Architecture and engineering are two different terms with different meanings, but are often confused as the same. Architecture is the process of designing and constructing buildings, while engineering is the practice of designing, constructing and operating structures and machines.<\/p>\n

Architecture focuses more on the design, form and aesthetic appeal of a building. Architects are concerned with aesthetics, climate, lighting, and other aspects of the design of the building. As part of this process, different materials, such as wood, metal, concrete, or other elements depending on the situation, are selected to create a structure that is pleasing to the eye. Architects are also expected to consider the environmental impact of their design, as well as how people will interact with the building and how it will contribute to the local community.<\/p>\n

Engineering, on the other hand, is more focused on the practical aspects of how to create a structure or product. Engineers will use mathematics, physics, and other scientific methods to develop plans that will be used to construct and operate a structure or device. They will often consult with architects to ensure the product meets any necessary design or aesthetic requirements, but the focus is on making sure the design is safe and cost effective.<\/p>\n

Both architecture and engineering require creative problem solving abilities and both demand a good deal of education and professional experience. For instance, architects must have a bachelor’s degree in architecture as well as several years of experience before they can become a licensed architect. Similarly, engineers must have bachelor degrees in engineering and obtain professional certification before they can practice. There are many different branches of engineering, such as mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering, each with their own specializations.<\/p>\n
