Creative Expression

Architecture is an art form, solely dedicated to the creation of functional and beautiful buildings. With unique ideas and vast opportunities to construct, design and manage buildings, it becomes an ultimate form of creative expression. My interest in exploring all the possible options one can reach, when creating not just any building, but one that is visually pleasing, sparks my desire to become an architect.

I find solace in the planning and creativity of designing a building from concept to completion. It is quite a fascinating process to imagine something and have it slowly come together step by step through hard work and perseverance. There are times when I am uncertain about my designs and ideas but with the help of creative problem solving, the solution always reveals itself.

As the world develops with increased urbanization, the role of an architect seems more important. This idea compels me to choose architecture for myself because I have a passion for creating something remarkable that can stand the test of time. I also want to use this skill to contribute something of value which can benefit not only myself but also the people around me.

Community Service

Ending homelessness and creating places that foster a sense of strong community is important. As an architect, I want to make sure that communities are integrated and efficient. This can be achieved through architecture that is thoughtful and knowledge based.

I strongly believe in the concept of collective well-being, which emphasizes that a harmonious community can be created when individuals focus more on their collective well-being, instead of solely focusing on themselves. With the help of architecture and design, this can be achieved as buildings are built for people, not for individuals.

A place of collective well-being has several important elements such as social space, recreational area and cultural center. It also means providing access to public transport and other public services. All of these facilities will go a long way in helping the community connect with each other and ultimately build a strong foundation.

Environmental Preservation

Everyone dreams of living in a sustainable city that is ecologically friendly where energy consumption is minimized. As an architect, I would strive to create buildings that utilize green materials, have clean water and energy efficient solutions. This is important for preserving our environment for future generations and for me to contribute in a meaningful way.

I am certain that creating a well thought-out design with efficient management plans will prevent many of the problems that arise from unfitting and wasteful building designs. One of the most important elements when creating a design is using renewable materials which will reduce the overall burden on natural resources.

It is inevitable that humans will have a great impact on the environment and with the resources available to architects, it is our job to be responsible for the decisions that are made. Designing sustainable places is important not only for today but also for the future generations that depend on the well being of their environments.

Research opportunities

The field of architecture offers me a platform to expand my research and knowledge. I will be able to explore a range of building solutions and materials all while learning how to be more responsible when it comes to the environment.

Seeing the development of a project, from beginning till the end, would be an amazing way to understand the various aspects of architecture while also gaining experience in the process. I know I will also be able to increase my teamwork skills with the help of colleagues and develop solutions together.

This research will also provide me with a great opportunity to express my passions and use the resources available to me to reach my goals. I can also use this time to explore my options for starting my own practice and hopefully one day work on some of the most interesting projects.
